Dear Quarantine

Dear quarantine,

We’ve had quite a rollercoaster of a relationship, huh? Funny how I hated you at first thought you were ruining my ‘teenage years’, but now I want to thank you.

You were a huge reality check, to say the least. You took the outside world away from me and left me with no escape from the thoughts that I’ve been running away from for as long as I can remember. I had to face them, had to face myself. All the mistakes that I’ve made and the wrong paths I went down. All the toxic coping mechanisms and failed relationships, the things I needed to change.

You lead me down the path between who I was and who I wanted to become, and for that, I will forever be grateful. So, thank you. Thank you for throwing away the rusty lens that I used to see life through and giving me a whole new perspective in its place. For changing my mindset from “I always mess up, its inevitable” to “How do I not mess this up?” And last but not least, thank you for giving me plenty of days to sleep in and binge-watch Netflix shows.

Sincerely,

Farida
