Overtime

Passion wains and becomes as fickle
As the doctrines that progress
And decline in the misbelief
Of modern thought

Where just like desires
Nights grow ever longer
As distance grows and grows
In that large bed-

That seems just that bit colder
As night after night
Becomes ever restless

As the wind howls and the trees sway
While I wonder just why that bed
Became a battlefield of strife and hate
Where the love that once grew on and on

Became lifeless and broken,
Just as the once bright night sky shined
Only to be dimmed by the illuminations-

Of fleeting modern romance.
