Sticks, Stones, and Bones

Sticks, Stones and Words

Sticks and stones may break the bones,
That’s why I have always been told
that words don’t hurt as much as stones
If they did hurt, I was just vulnerable and not bold

But that’s a complete and absolute lie
As words are harder than stones and sharper than a sword

Sticks and Stones only break the bones
But words, they break something precious

They break the heart, dream and soul of a person
With a broken bone you could still laugh
But that’s not the case with a wounded heart
As overthinking, depression and loneliness are it’s allies

You get attention when your bone is broken
But nobody cares if you have a broken heart

Sticks and stones may break the bones
But words possess a mighty venom
